Chambers House

  • Passive solar design, using colored concrete floors and masonry walls integrated with a site built masonry heater for thermal mass.
  • Wood for the red oak frame and pine for all the trim and floors obtained from the site as it was cleared for the building envelope.
  • High efficiency in-floor radiant heat system and domestic hot water heater.
  • Stress skin panels are hung off the wood frame, providing high R values and a low infiltration rate.
  • Whole house air to air heat exchanger reclaims heat from the outgoing air, and provides fresh air year round.
  • Salvaged materials were used when possible. ie: doors, sinks and light fixtures.
